Summary

Mated werewolves Charles Cornick and Anna Latham must discover what could make an entire community disappear—before it's too late—in this thrilling entry in the #1 New York Times bestselling Alpha and Omega series。

In the wilds of the Northern California mountains, all the inhabitants of a small town have gone missing。 It's as if the people picked up and left everything they owned behind。 Fearing something supernatural might be going on, the FBI taps a source they've consulted in the past: the werewolves Charles Cornick and Anna Latham。 But Charles and Anna soon find a deserted town is the least of the mysteries they face。

Death sings in the forest, and when it calls, Charles and Anna must answer。 Something has awakened in the heart of the California mountains, something old and dangerous—and it has met werewolves before。

The power of packAs always so well written。 Finally a story of Leah。 A great story, suspense, a justified ending。 A book that I will read over and over and add to my collection of comfort books to read when life is difficult。

Waiting for the next one will be TORTURE!Ok, this one,as always, has a great story and is very well told。 I loved it。 But- and this is a gargantuan but- the epilogue left my heart racing and my breath caught! If we have to wait years it will be harsh。 Please, please tell me that you are writing the next one now!!

I love love love Patrica's werewolf books。 This one is as good as the others。 It has everything I look for in a book: good writing, tight pacing, interesting plot, weird and wonderful characters。 Recommend reading the series in order to get the best experience。 At least, read the 1st book in the series befor the rest。 I love love love Patrica's werewolf books。 This one is as good as the others。 It has everything I look for in a book: good writing, tight pacing, interesting plot, weird and wonderful characters。 Recommend reading the series in order to get the best experience。 At least, read the 1st book in the series befor the rest。 。。。more

I don't have much to say but I will say this, first and foremost, I love Charles and Anna。 But pretty much after Bright Burn I was getting bored of the story。 What I loved initially with The Alpha and the Omega series so far is the main characters, of course。 You have a nonstereotypical tough chick who shows her vulnerabilities and an alpha male who is tough, calm, and not an asshole。 I loved spending time with them and watching them grow more deeply in love。 And maybe it's just me but I like th I don't have much to say but I will say this, first and foremost, I love Charles and Anna。 But pretty much after Bright Burn I was getting bored of the story。 What I loved initially with The Alpha and the Omega series so far is the main characters, of course。 You have a nonstereotypical tough chick who shows her vulnerabilities and an alpha male who is tough, calm, and not an asshole。 I loved spending time with them and watching them grow more deeply in love。 And maybe it's just me but I like the love story being a big part of the story and It was for most of the series until they started to go on these "missions" assigned by Bran。 The story is written well and beautifully but lately, this type of mission/investigation/crime-solving storyline gets me disinterested fast。 I really wanted to see the BTS bonding and I felt like she cut that short or cut it out completely sometimes。 I pretty much stuck with the story because of them。 But then I got to Wild Sign and I was pretty much-skimming parts that did not have Anna and Charles in it。 Again no hate on the author but it looks like she wants to take this story in a different direction than I am not willing to follow。 And as an end note (view spoiler)[the ending has pretty much done me in ( I can't fathom raising someone else kid。 That would be a no for me dog lol (hide spoiler)] 。。。more

The book starts quite slowly with more questions than answers and at times was quite long-winded。 I was beginning to get a little bit frustrated until about a third of the way through。 Unfortunately instead of making some headway I found the story was moving into areas I don’t particularly enjoy, in fact I really dislike mind control and possession stories。 There is the obligatory big battle near the end, but it was a bit too ‘comic book’ for me。 I can understand why some readers might enjoy thi The book starts quite slowly with more questions than answers and at times was quite long-winded。 I was beginning to get a little bit frustrated until about a third of the way through。 Unfortunately instead of making some headway I found the story was moving into areas I don’t particularly enjoy, in fact I really dislike mind control and possession stories。 There is the obligatory big battle near the end, but it was a bit too ‘comic book’ for me。 I can understand why some readers might enjoy this story, but I’m afraid I didn’t。 。。。more

I found the first quarter of the book to be bland and kind of disappointing。 The rest of the book made up for it enough to still earn a five star rating。 Bran is an ass。

It's been a while since I've been back in this world, and with Anna and Charles specifically。 Annd and Charles new adventure leads them to California, where the people of a town, that settled illegally in their lands, have disappeared。 One of the most interesting parts of this story is that these lands were where Bran first found Leah and ended up taking her as a mate。 We get to see a very brief glimpse of how Leah and Bran ended up together and how Leah was Changed。 On these lands something evi It's been a while since I've been back in this world, and with Anna and Charles specifically。 Annd and Charles new adventure leads them to California, where the people of a town, that settled illegally in their lands, have disappeared。 One of the most interesting parts of this story is that these lands were where Bran first found Leah and ended up taking her as a mate。 We get to see a very brief glimpse of how Leah and Bran ended up together and how Leah was Changed。 On these lands something evil rests。 Something that Leah had hoped died long ago, but really was asleep until witches woke it up。 Now it is up to Anna, Charles, and Tag to discover what exactly rests in the land and what happened to the people。 I really enjoyed this story。 Music was a key theme to it and it very much reminded me of the Pied Piper who led people to their deaths through music。 Though this is no Pied Piper。 Really great story that had me turning page after page for more。 I loved Charles and Anna in this story as well because they have come so far from the first book where they met and mated。 Their relationship has only gotten stronger and it is nice to see them more at peace in their lives and with one another。 They are definitely favorite characters of mine in this world。 And of course these books always end with some sort of cliffhanger that changes everything for books of the future。 And this one had to be the craziest yet。 Now, I really need the next book! 。。。more

I enjoyed this book and found it annoying。 I liked that we got more insight into Leah and Sherwood。 I know this is Anna and Charles' series but I wish there had been way more Leah and a better Sherwood cameo。 Although I guess his revelations will be in Mercy's next book。 I never hated Leah, I'm of the mind that if men call a woman crazy or a b*tch there's usually a very good reason for her behaviors。 Now that we know just how soon after Charles' mother passed that Bran showed up with her, it mak I enjoyed this book and found it annoying。 I liked that we got more insight into Leah and Sherwood。 I know this is Anna and Charles' series but I wish there had been way more Leah and a better Sherwood cameo。 Although I guess his revelations will be in Mercy's next book。 I never hated Leah, I'm of the mind that if men call a woman crazy or a b*tch there's usually a very good reason for her behaviors。 Now that we know just how soon after Charles' mother passed that Bran showed up with her, it makes her bitchiness in reaction to being an outsider in her own family make a lot more sense。 After the last book Leah became more endearing to me and I thought Bran made a big mistake not raising Mercy as his and Leah's child。 I thought she would've made a fierce and loving mother。 This book let me know she and Mercy (since Mercy's adopted parents died before her first book) were robbed。Now the annoying part。 First off the lead male is Native。 So I was insulted that they kept bringing up Roanoke。 Why? Because it the story that the colonizers just disappeared is rooted in racism。 The word Croatoan left behind was literal directions, it wasn't some crazy mystery。 But the idea that White English people would find safety and a home among Natives was so unfathomable that instead the legend of the missing colony began。 It's been a while since archeologists have proved that the colonizers went to live with the Croatoan's, so that fact that the writer didn't incorporate that into the story irked me。 Charles should've politely shut down Anna constantly bringing up that stupid legend。Anna。 I don't like her。 In each book there's something I find off putting。 This time it was partially her bringing up Roanoke, but more it was her being so judgmental of Bran。 Charles told her what happened, she knew the alternative。 It was a bad situation, but it made sense。 If anything as the Omega she should've been understanding and comforting。 I enjoy these books, but I think a big thing that pulls me out is that I don't buy Charles and Anna having a deep love。 Maybe it's because they mated so quickly bookwise, so we didn't get a build up and they didn't get a chance to fall for each other like Mercy and Adam。 It just seems to me that if Anna hadn't been an Omega Charles nor his Wolf would've given her a second thought after saving her。 All that being said, I love this universe and I will be reading the next installment。 。。。more

This was definitely a 5 Star read concerning the mystery/action part。 The disappearance, the folklore, the setting - really really good。I had to deduct some partial star, because the love/relationship part was boring。 It felt repetitive, there is no change, there is Anna, the strong survivor, there is Charles, who loves her above else, wants to protect her and so on and so forth。I also deduct half a star for the epilogue。 That had a plot hole as big as a truck in its logic。 And it neatly solves This was definitely a 5 Star read concerning the mystery/action part。 The disappearance, the folklore, the setting - really really good。I had to deduct some partial star, because the love/relationship part was boring。 It felt repetitive, there is no change, there is Anna, the strong survivor, there is Charles, who loves her above else, wants to protect her and so on and so forth。I also deduct half a star for the epilogue。 That had a plot hole as big as a truck in its logic。 And it neatly solves a major topic in a very unsatisfying way。 。。。more

Phenomenal addition to the seriesThe Alpha & Omega series has always been a favorite of mine。 A slow burn, constant adventure。 Anna and Charles are indomitable personalities perfectly paired, unwilling to walk away from what is right or what is required of them。 This new addition is nothing short of what I expect and love about the pair。 There are surprises, mysteries made anew, questions answered, relationships tested and forged anew。 We even get a decent dabbling of characters from Briggs othe Phenomenal addition to the seriesThe Alpha & Omega series has always been a favorite of mine。 A slow burn, constant adventure。 Anna and Charles are indomitable personalities perfectly paired, unwilling to walk away from what is right or what is required of them。 This new addition is nothing short of what I expect and love about the pair。 There are surprises, mysteries made anew, questions answered, relationships tested and forged anew。 We even get a decent dabbling of characters from Briggs other series Mercy Thompson。 No spoilers but the ending。。。。omg。 I await with no patience but utter gratitude and hope for the next novel。 。。。more

This is a must read!I admit freely, if Patricia Briggs writes it, I will read it, with gusto。 However, I have a real soft spot for the Alpha/Omega series。 I love how Anna has grown and developed as a character。 And who doesn't love Charles? What is incredible in this installment is an unexpected development in the relationship between Bran and Leah。 I won't spoil it, but Holy Hannah! So Much Goodness!I enjoyed this book immensely。 It was dark, emotional, with a splash of humor。 Briggs writes characters that are so real that it’s almost hard to believe that they aren’t real people。I think the book would be enjoyable as a stand-alone, but knowing the back stories of the characters adds so much more to the story。 With the cross-over characters between this series and the Mercy books, I recommend reading both, preferably in chronological order and with the short stories in Shift So Much Goodness!I enjoyed this book immensely。 It was dark, emotional, with a splash of humor。 Briggs writes characters that are so real that it’s almost hard to believe that they aren’t real people。I think the book would be enjoyable as a stand-alone, but knowing the back stories of the characters adds so much more to the story。 With the cross-over characters between this series and the Mercy books, I recommend reading both, preferably in chronological order and with the short stories in Shifting Shadows。 I think both narrators do a great job if you prefer audiobooks。 We listen to the books as a family, although they are technically 17+。 I try to skip any sex scenes as best as I can - there aren’t that many in the series, only one in Wild Sign that I will need to skip。 Bottom line, I think this might be my favorite book of the Mercyverse series。 Definitely the best book I’ve read so far this year。 。。。more
